Sunday Sun 29-10-2017
The weather was forecast for full Sun, so in the UK that is a code word for cloud. The altitude of the Sun is getting difficult now so I set up with anticipation and waited. I had full blue sky all around me west, north and east but as usual cloud right over the Sun and it wouldn't shift. It then cleared directly as soon as the Sun went behind the neighbour's tree so I got exactly one avi. I waited and waited and then mid afternoon the Sun eventually came out of the clouds again (you guessed it, it went cloudy immediately after it cleared the tree, and yes, only over the Sun). I am sure this behaviour is not random?
Anyway, after a 3 hour wait, the result with a Solarscope DSF100 + Grasshopper 3

and two proms, although I recorded the wrong one, I thought I was looking at the big prom in the south but actually I imaged the faint one in the north!

and then I set up ready for the evening, of course it was clear blue sky all evening but as soon as the moon came up in the gap, again I had this weird cloud stream that hung over the moon. I managed just 3 avi sequences in small gaps. I waited for an hour and half but gave up when it too went into the neighbour's tree. Of course the cloud then evaporated. I am sure there is a conspiracy going on
I think I will re-process these tonight, the hubby was very critical and said they were full of noise. I guess I need a new processing routine for this beast.

Super shots Alexandra! There were a few gaps for me on Sunday but we'd just got back from Anglesey and were in unpacking mode so didn't get round to taking any shots.

Fabulous, Alexandra. I love the moon images; excellent detail. I tried imaging at the same time, but the seeing conditions were awful from my driveway and I really struggled to get good resolution. So jealous.

Fantastic moon shots Alexandra. The C11 is a keeper. Love the solar images as well. It will be raining tomorrow in Portugal, very strange...
