Solar activity Oct 29 2017. Close up with 280mm aperture.

Post by Valery »

Hi all,

Yesterday's morning was clear after cloudness quick disappearing. This defined a low temperature change and
inversion absence. So, the seeing was better than it usually is this time of a year. Then the sun starts to heat
all around and good seeing has changed for poor to average seeing.

Here are three images taken with my C11 280mm F/10 SCT equipped with a full size two bands DERF filter
and PST Mod-2 etalon. Camera used is Basler 1920-155.
First image is AR12685 (UT 07h58m), second image is AR12686 (UT 07h 59m).

Thanks for looking.

Valery

Looks great Valery, i'm going to have to try just a PST etalon on the HaT next year I think.

Valery:
Very good shots, still have not been able to keep working on the 10" f/20 Mak due to foul weather.
Best regards,
Eric.

Thanks Eric.

I am wonder why don't you use the 10" mak the days when you imaged the sun with your 90mm scope.

Dear Valery:

The problem is that at home (México City) I have a small roof observatory with 3 scopes, the Solarmax 90-DS, a 102mm f/7 Stellarvue and a 102 Meade f/9 scope, the 3 mounted on an Atlas.

At the rural observatory 135 Km from home I have several scopes, so on an Astro Physics 1100 GoTo I have the 10" f/20 TEC Maksutov and a 12" f/10 SCT; then on a Paramount ME, I have a 12" f/8 RC and an Epsilon 180mm f/2.8, and lastly on a very old HGM200 Losmandy, I have an Astro Physics 6" f/12 triplet refractor, where I use the 2X Baader telecentric and the ATM Daystar 0.45Aº.

The day I took the shots at the rural observatory, the sun just showed for a few minutes so I used the always ready Instrument, just aim and refocus and shoot, but the 10" Maksutov fitted with full aperture Aries ERF still is not working at f/30 or f/40, I still have to calculate and make the adapter for the 2x Baader telecentric, so the native focus is properly placed on the telecentric.

I also want to try an old 2 inch 1.65X Barlow, but I need the sun out for a longer time to get all the distances properly set and then find out if I have the adapters, (I have a lot of them) or maybe I have to make them.

So the problem is that the Solarmax 90, is 135Km from the 10" f/20 Maksutov. I am planning to get the rural observatory robotic, so I can use it from 135 Km away. :-))

Thanks for asking and for the very nice full aperture ERF filter.

Best regards,

Eric.

Hi Valery...

These are excellent shots, the active regions and limb both :bow

I have to say the prom image really shows the fine details and excellent processing. Well done.
