Although the day was beautiful almost all day, I could only manage a quick session and chose CaK with my grab and go 72mm f6.

Alexandra, how does this compare with the seeing at your viewing site on Sunday?

Kinda reminds me of what I get with the HaT - it's like it's out of focus - it isn't mind, it's just the poor seeing blurring.

Fantastic CaK, very sharp!! we were looking and commenting that you had lovely blue sky. We were plagued by mackerel cloud that seemed to be streaming in from the Irish sea down the Cheshire gap.
The moon full disc is great but the HiRes is a bit wooly. My seeing was also that horrible speckle seeing. I have words for that one, fast boil swimming pool. However I did have very sharp detail in between and Autostakkert has done a good job but I have a lot of noise and I saw more by eye. I think I need to take at least 2-5000 images and take 5% rather than a 1000. Have you checked collimation? I did a collimation check before doing the moon and it was off centre again. I need to keep my eye on mine till it settles down after my Bob's Knobs episode. I would do an avi of my seeing if I knew how to chop a ser file and create a small avi

Thanks for your comments, Alexandra. I haven't checked the collimation of this scope yet. I was trying to purchase a Howie Glatter laser attachment for my alignment laser, but these are difficult to get hold of.

In between the crud I didn't see anything as sharp as you describe..... maybe there was just too much shimmering going on. I did the 5% of 3500 image stacking thing and didn't get anything like your images. Oh well. I'll see if things improve as the season progresses.

BTW, I use a SER to AVI converter and then use movie maker to produce a short MP4 sequence to upload onto Flickr.
