Sunday PST fun from the bedroom

Post by Montana »

Well it is bedroom window time again and today was glorious sunshine at lunchtime. The Sun was very quiet, or so I thought from GONG!

Well I decided to do a single stack vs double stack for the PST to show the difference (camera is DMK41)

Single stack

DS

and I recorded the prominences in single stack and was astounded when I processed, was this an artifact?

Alexandra:
Nice session, the DS PST change is incredible, nor to say the CaK shots, very good.
When the sun is so quiet, one does a lot of comparison shots, I even tried to readjust my Solarmax 90 and I believe it is better now.
Best wishes,
Eric.

Nice FDs, Alexandra. Solar surprises..... they are what make imaging the Sun so interesting. You never really know what you're going to get from one day to the next, or even hour by hour.

I have comical images in my mind of you hanging out of the bedroom window in a bid to capture every last drop of sunshine. :)

Nice comparison. DS wins.

Definite plus for the double stack.Indoor Solar who would have thought there would be such a pursuit.

Well done and very well presented, Alexandra. I was hoping you would have at least one more chance to image before winter sets in...

Double stack all the way....

Nice pictures, Alexandra!

You need to DS your Ca II K too!

Thanks everyone :) at least the trusty PST fits in the bedroom and can just squeeze through the narrow gap in the window to allow imaging between 11.15-12.30pm on winter days, so long as it is sunny at that time of day it is enough to keep the addiction happy over winter. What I need to do is get the whole window replaced with something like patio doors but to fit the size of the window, then I could set up the big scope and have a huge observation window from the second floor. However no window companies seem to think outside the box and make an upstairs window fully opening for an observatory, I wonder why?

Why not have a small micro balcony with a railing and smoked glass lower then the doors can open inwards and all is safe.
Then we can keep having your excellent pics and we dont need a solar scope.
