AR2689

Post by PDB »

Hi,

finally some (poor) pictures again. Made in difficult circumstances. Focusmotor still not repaired, so capturing with the laptop outside and manual focusing again. Road works ongoing in front of the house, so the image was shaking most of the time. Captured with the ASI-120MM in highspeed mode (10 bit ADC) to get 70fps framerate. As usual 80mm f/6 with Quark @f/25. (Quark set to +3) ASI120MM Binned 2.
Still not happy about the Quark performance, contrast was very low. (Atmosferic condition or Quark failing?)

End of the session, had to rush to place the gear back inside due to an unexpected rainshower (again).
Anyway:
AR 2689 - 2017-11-28 10h19 UT Sun's altitude 16° - Stacked 50% of 2319 frames.

If this a Quark Chromosphere or Prominence then this is a defective sample.

Thanks Franco and Valery.

@Valery: this is wat I wanted to know. It seems to have gone bad over time and does not perform VERY bad when outside temp drops under 15°C. The green light says it is ok, but that I don't believe anymore.

As a comparison: this is one of first images I took with August last year, just after purchase, with same equipment

Nice shots, but yes, I agree with Valery, the Quark is faulty. Hopefully your dealer will be able to sort things out for you.

Thanks Mark,

already got an answer from the dealer. It will go back to Daystar under warranty.

Oh I thought you had a Quark CaH !!! I was going to say how nice it was but if it was a Halpha that isn't right at all ;)

Yep, maybe I should color it a little bit "blueish" (I can process it to look even better as CaH)

Think there is a serious temp calibration problem. (Started to show late last year and degraded more and more). So time to start the Daystar battle.

Sun is to low anyway, so it can go back without beeing really missed. Wonder what Daystart will do. All the stories I have read do not really give me confidence.

Regards,

P.
