Nov 28th in Ha
Good evening everyone...
A busy month at work and few clear days to take advantage of even if I had some time to get out to view the sun. This past Wednesday was a rare exception since the clear skies lasted through the noon hour and I was able to spend a short time at the scope over a late lunch to grab a few images.
Seeing was poor, so I limited myself to imaging with the LS80T/B1200Ha solar scope which is fairly tolerant of the poor conditions. The first pair of images are disk/limb composites with the limb inverted to enhance the proms. These images use the same disk image, but a shorter limb exposure on the first and a longer one for the second: It was nice to catch AR2689, filaments, and the smaller proms!
I bumped the effective focal length up with a 3x barlow and assembled this mosaic. The seeing varied a lot and a few of the frames don't match very well Presented as mono and inverted versions: The weather calls for sun on Sunday, so maybe a chance to image more...but activity isn't very promising
Brian

Re: Nov 28th in Ha
Nice images, Brian. Getting time on the Sun is a real challenge this time of year, although it has also been tough all through the summer here with appalling weather since August and when it has been sunny I've been at work.
It guess it makes the occasions when we do capture some rays so much more special.
Stu.

Hi Stu...
Thanks for your comments, and the low winter sun is always a challenge!
We had a terrible spring and summer for clear skies, but the September and October were much better...my work, like yours, was the challenge to view and image
Take care,
Brian

All good, Brian, but my favorite is the (positive) mosaic. I think it came out well !

Great shots Brian! Glad the winter conditions are holding for long enough so that you can image. I'm another who struggles to observe with work, weather and the low sun this time of year. Still, only a couple of weeks and the sun will be rising in the sky again.

Re: Nov 28th in Ha
My thanks to Derek, Alexandra, Franco, Mark, and Marios for your comments...always appreciated
Mark, I am fortunate that my view of the southern horizon isn't blocked limiting observations of the low winter...just limited by clear days and the poorest season for seeing. Oh well, can't have it all
Derek...our weather is to take a turn to the cold again...
Maybe some sun in there somewhere
Brian
