Sol from the 15th of December 2017.

Post by eroel »

Hi:
Hazy and cloudy day, but managed to get some FD´s in CaK and in H alpha.
I used the 102mm f/9 Meade refractor with a CaK PST mod and the Solarmax 90-DS-BF30, the camera was the reliable SKYnyx 2-2.
Thanks for looking and have a nice and sunny weekend. (not at my place, it is cloudy)
Eric.

Brian, Alfred, Stu, Mark and Franco:
Thanks for looking and commenting, :D
BTW, I tried to image the 16th and the 17th of December, but it was heavily hazy and cloudy, so I started cleaning up my home observatory and I saw a black heavy box, opened it and found that I have a never used Coronado 90 SS etalon with Rich View and even with an adapter for my Stellarvue 102mm f/7. , that was quite of a discovery for me, so even with heavy haze I went and looked through it and found it very good in spite of the metereological conditions. I think that just Pedro and some of you will understand how I felt, because I bet he and some of you have stumbled through the same issue with the endless line of instruments that sometimes we own. (I started collecting from 1950 on)
Best X´mas wishes to all of you.
Eric.

Alexandra and Steve:
:D :D , Well I did forget, because many years ago when I got the Solarmax 90 I had a lot of problems with it, so had to send it back to the U.S.A. to be fixed and they changed the whole scope and gave me a new one.
The new one also gave me a lot of problems, I never was able to adjust the external and the internal etalons, then 2 very good friends of mine offered me to fix it and to match the etalons, so I sent it back, but again they told me that one of the etalons was decontacted so they got a new one from the manufacturer.
Time passed by and then one day they told me that the scope was ready but that they had to buy an old cheap etalon that was a perfect match for my scope, so I paid what they bought and they sent the scope and the new etalon on its box to another friend that lives in San Diego, CA.
Finally after about a year or so, I traveled to the RTMC and picked the scope plus the new etalon on its box from my friends home and when back in México, found that the solar scope worked beautifully, so during a couple of years I thought that the box was empty and that the etalon was mounted on the scope, until a few days ago that I cleaned the box that was full of dust and opened it and got the surprise.
Best wishes and good day,
Eric.
P.S. Steve if I find another one I will send it to you.

Great stuff Eric

Hope your SM90II is better than mine. I had to send it to Beloptik to be repaired (again)

The etalon was previously "repaired" in the Meade Mexico factory

You're right, I have too many telescopes, no time to use them all...
