Hi,
Finally after many weeks of a Sun drought I was able to make a mosaic of 9 images. For full size view ~ 2300px square please open in new window or tab.
Somebody asked a few weeks ago about automatic stitching with Photoshop.
Well PS CS6 failed to make a mosaic but AutoStitch did it with no problems at all. Look below at the PS CS6 Frankenstein mosaic
Raw material for both software were the same images.

Hi Rainer...
Great mosaic It's always a challenge to get the separate frames to match up but this one turned out well.

Yes and before every session I check the stacked etalons in order that they give me a uniform surface. That mosaic is made from 9 images.
I am using a double stacked 60mm Coronado (the very old ones) which were matched manually when Coronado was still Coronado and not Meade.
They are sitting on a Takahashi FSQ 85-ED and a BF30 blocking filter. The etalons are rotated 90 degrees to each other and I can adjust via stepper motors with a very fine tuning. So I can see the changes of the hotspot and center both. Normally using one etalon you normally get an elliptical hot spot but with 2 I found out the 2 eliptical hotspots do make a more uniform illumination of the surface of the Sun.
I use a Canon 2X extender and so I go up to 900mm focal length when making the mosaic.
My camera is a very old Lumenera 2-2M and I use Lucam Recorder for image acquisition. The program has a so called False Colour Mask and so I can get the prominences on the limb of the Sun as well as the surface details in one single shooting. No need to assemble 2 images. The color as you see the image comes out of the camera like that.
regards Rainer

Rainer:
A very nice mosaic using the Lucam Palette.
Remember that long time ago you configured a pallet for me? well, I still can not make it work as good as yours so I will call you when back home so you can explain me again your workflow.
Felices fiestas y abrazo,
Eric.

Another wonderful image
In Photoshop you need to load the plugin so that you have 'interactive' mode in the Photomerge, then you place the panels where you want them to be and Photomerge does the blending.
