HI Steve...
A good start to the new year...nice to have a little activity and filaments to capture.
The tuning looks to be much better in the upper-right half of the frame to me...not sure if this was one of the issues you mentioned.

Good disk Steve. My pressure tuner was virtually unscrewed all the way out today. Roll on warmer conditions!

Re: Sol 7-1-2018 Ha
Thanks Brian
Yep thats one of them.
i have to have the scope so high on the mount to clear the trees that it is difficult to reach and tune.
Also i have an issue with the lunt in single stack mode as it has lost all of its contrast, I am waiting for some new seals, not sure if this will help or not.

Thanks Mark
Just the opposite mine is screwd almost all the way in and still gives a washed out image till i put the D/S on it.
roll on a few more hours of reachable sun so i can get a chance to try and sort out the problems.

Re: Sol 7-1-2018 Ha
Interesting how they are all different. I had not adjusted mine since the last time I observed (november) and when I first looked and saw the orange featureless disk I momentarily wondered if the etalon was still contacted. I had about 3/4 of a turn before the pressure chamber would have been off. I always find high pressure and low temperatures, whether tilt or pressure tuning throws things way off the norm.

That's funny, I never adjust my PST and the etalon was way off yesterday. How strange! the seeing was also terrible yesterday, the worst I have ever seen. I must post my images as now I don't feel so bad
it is still a great disc Steve, at least the top half is on band

Hi,
Well that Looks to be a normal behavior of the Etalons. When I make a Meridian flip I have to readjust as well as when it is colder or warmer. I have Coronado SM 60 ( no pressure tuner )
I think those pressure tuned ones are more critical ... just an assumption ...

I have several pre-Mead SMs (40 and 60) and their behaviour is very different. I use the SM60 with several OTAs (mainly a TV101).
It is important to adjust the position of the etalon as well as its tilt. Usually I do this using false colour.

Steve:
Well, there is always something that we have to tweak and keep on tweaking in this new year.
Best wishes,
Eric.

Re: Sol 7-1-2018 Ha
Thanks
Eric it would be great if the scope is not 7' up in the air and I'm on the steps and stretch to see the screen.
Pedro yes it needs "clocking" again
Rainer yes there is a bit of slop in the richview tilt i have tightened up the screws again today
always a tweak here and there - never 100% statisfied with the results
