Ha Full Disk 11th February

We spent the weekend visiting my parents in Anglesey, and while saturday can only be described as cold, wet and windy sundays hope was that the low pressure system had passed through, so, in theory the weather should be better (at times!). We drove back through sunshine and snow showers this morning, and by mid afternoon the weather was doing snow for 30 minutes, sun for 30 minutes and so on. I got out the tarpaulin and set up. I'd hoped for a few more wavelengths, but the gaps weren't big enough, so i'll have to settle with a full disk with the double stacked Lunt50.

Very nice Mark with some nice limb action for good measure. About time you got a break with the sun & well worth it too.

That is one beautiful disk, Mark. It looks like your Lunt 50 is working well. What are you using for second stack ?

It’s a beauty Mark. Looks like “old yellow face” has gone cyclops!

Excellent work, Mark!

BTW Am I mistaken? Never saw such a wide DS. Does it mean you just keep the gamma and then the contrast low or this DS is really wide in it's bandpass?

Nice FD under challenging conditions, Mark.

We're having work done on our house and my gear is 'inaccessible' at the moment. Frustrating to see the Sun out for a short while, but being totally unable to image.

Stu.

These are absolutely stunning Mark, so much detail from a 50mm :bow :bow
We had the snow showers but never the sunny gaps :(

Thanks everyone! Looking forward to getting more images with this setup.

Valery, the contrast that is there is the same as what is seen on the screen when recording. I record on neutral gamma, and then the only post processing that happens is some LR docon in ImPPG. Colour is added in Photoshop, I don't do any gamma / contrast adjustment, so, this is pretty raw data in terms of post processing - just my style and preference :)

I'm still getting to grips with using the DS50, since having it every imaging session has been a quick grab in between the clouds, not had time to experiment much. The perfect 'on band' spot is just off centre, and I need to tweak the scale at which I image in order that the disk can be accommodated in this area. Fingers crossed next week will see some clear skies so that I can play around a bit more.

Mark,

Sun pictures my style exactly what you publish, very very nice..
Happy what the Lunt 50 DS is presenting on the screen each time, post processing also just doing very limited.

Hans.

Awesome images Mark - the DS 50 in your hands is quite the bomb! Looking forward to seeing more when the skies are kinder.
