Hi everyone...

I finally had a clear day that I could spend some time at the scope and not be clouded out after 10 minutes To top if off we have AR2699 putting on a great show after a long stretch of low activity. In addition to the large AR there were some nice proms too!!!

The images below were taken through the LS80T/B1200Ha with a LS75FHa front mount etalon as a double stack. This is a composite of separate disk and limb images and presented with multiple options for the palette: The seeing was typical of the winter conditions, but I did grab a WL and CaK image through the iStar 150mm, f8 OTA which are presented below: Due to the poor seeing I only grabbed WL with the 3x barlow: I was really looking forward to being able to grab some hifger resolution Ha images, so the camera was moved to the modded CR-150/DSII/B1800Ha setup with the 3x tele-extender ahead of the camera. The image below is a 2 frame mosaic of AR2699: The final target was the prom on the eastern limb: All images were taken with the Grasshopper Express (ICX674 chip) camera.

That pretty much covers the imaging session from Monday. I'll be happy if there is another chance to grab some images before this beauty rotates off the limb!

That's a real nice series of images Brian, glad you are able to get some sun. I'm hoping the weather is kind to me in the weeks ahead.

Brian some great pics there.I have just been having a quick visual with the 60mm scope.Absolute scorcher here today I,m up to 11l of fluid so far today.
Even the tripod legs were warm to touch after a quick look.

Derek...the heat makes outdoor work difficult, and keeping hydrated is a challenge. What are the daytime highs running there these days? We have had a relatively cold winter with lots of snow...a short mild spell in mid January melted the snow, but the cold returned with a good amount of snow again. I can always dress warmer to work outside int he winter, but staying cool in heat isn't easy.

It was really a treat to get this AR after a long drought of large scale activity. The proms look great in the images, but it took the camera to pull them up as I didn’t see much of them visually.

Daytime highs are in the mid 30s but that’s in the shade.its the humidity that’s the killer.

That is about the worse we get for heat and humidity! I was afraid you were going to say it was in the 40's.
