Stephen Hawking

Post by rbenton »

I am a photojournalist, and when people ask me what my favorite photo assignments have been, the first one I recall is when I spent the entire day with Stephen Hawking in 2003. I meet plenty of famous people in my job, but he was the first subject I met who made me feel 'star-struck.' Spending time with him has always been a treasured thrill for me that I will boast about for the rest of my life. Despite his frail condition, it seemed that he would go on forever. I was saddened to hear that he had died. Here are a few of the photos from that day, and from my second meeting with him in 2007.

He was one of the greatest hero of the science of all the times. He more closely than anyone else has come to understand the plan of the Father Creator. And with extraordinary generosity, he shared these knowledges with all of us. Thanks him!

RIP

You are extremely lucky to have been to a lecture, that is something I would have loved to have done. I loved reading his books, he made the complicated seem so simple. A truly great man and an example to all that disability means nothing, you can achieve anything if you want to.

RIP Prof! Thanks for the pics of the great man too.
Known for a (sometimes wicked) sense of humour,
I note the first line of his Speech Synth screen ran:

"Yes, No, Maybe, Don't Know... and Thanks".

Maybe therein lies wisdom? (ISTR it worked quite
well for some of my elderly (male) relatives! ;)
