Here comes the sun ! March 24th

Post by ffellah »

Finally Spring is here and I was out with the scopes for the first time this year ! As always, at the beginning of the season my mount gave multiple error codes for a while. Then all of the sudden it started to work OK. The seeing was not great, weather was breezy, but I decided to take my chances.

Really the only feature was this butterfly shaped prominence that was fun to watch. I tried a high-res close-up but the seeing did not allow for a sharp image.

Thank you for looking !

Franco

Hi Franco...

This worked out well, the detail in the proms is sharp :bow

Trick is not to push too far when the conditions are tough and this seems to have been a good setup.

Thank you Pedro, Robert, Derek and Eric for your comments. This was done with the SM 90mm DS, 450 frames, 20% of which stacked, with the PG Flea 3 3.2 MP mono camera in Mode 7 at only 15 FPS (30 sec total capture time). Processed with Astra Image and PS.

I'm glad you had the opportunity to blow the dust off, the prom shots are really crisp and lovely :bow :hamster: I don't see the butterfly though?

Hi Alexandra: thank you for your nice comments. I guess it looked more like a butterfly visually: in the images it looks to me more like a bent H.
