Hi Pedro,
Yes, G-band images on granulations were taken with ARIES D-ERF and G-band on a C8
Seeing became worst today. No decent images

Great images with the C8 at the G-band ! These ones are among the best I ever saw with 8" telescopes.
Wish you more great seeing weather.

Re: G-Band and H-Alpha Images from Singapore
Hi Pedro,
The G-Band filter is from Edmund Optics. It is a 25mm 430/10nm filter. I wasn't able to find a suitable casing for it to be "converted" to 1.25 inch. This is my improvisation - I used Blu Tack (useable plastic adhesive) to hold it in a Mallincam IR blocking cell. The IR blocking filter works well with the 430nm filter to produce fine granulations provided there is fair seeing.

Re: G-Band and H-Alpha Images from Singapore
Using the 3-Band AIRES D-ERF & Celestron C8, I reconfigured it as follows:
Over time I have collected 5 PST etalons which I wanted to use on this D-ERF and also a 14" ARIES D-ERF:
Had 2 runs with 1 etalon in extremely poor seeing:

Re: G-Band and H-Alpha Images from Singapore (New images added)
Thanks Alexandra and Stu for your compliments. Some times I have this feeling it is easier to get the granulations on the ARIES DREF-C8-GBand filter than high-resolution H-Alpha images with ARIES DERF-C8-PST etalon. But thinking about it, I usually do G-Band imaging when seeing is good. I must make the change so I can test and rank their quality.
Mark - you mentioned - [You have a lot of PST etalons Alfred ]
I am trying to find very good PST etalons for the ARIES14" D-ERF that will be delivered soon

The better H-Alpha image was from a 150mm refractor fitted with a 160mm ARIES D-ERF, taken at 11:50am local time. Here are two more images taken on the same day using the same setup:

Hi Pedro and Mark, marktownley wrote: ↑Sun Apr 08, 2018 12:58 pm Alfred, can you describe your sharpening routine with the granulation shots please?
My processing:
a. Step 1: I use AS!2 to stack about 180 to 200 frames from a recording of about 4000 frames.
b. Step 2: Next I use the LR deconvolution and Unsharp masking in ImPPG to post process the stacked image.
c. Step 3: The final step is to do noise reduction first with Topaz Denoise followed by other processing in PS (e.g. unsharp mask, contrast adjustment, level, curve stretch etc). I find doing the Topaz Denoise a crucial step before final PS pp.
As for PS processing, it is an art thing - just do different tweaks to get desired effects
To All - please share your sharpening routine. I would like to learn from you too.

Re: G-Band and H-Alpha Images from Singapore (New images added)
Hi Pedro,
I notice that Christian stack very few images. I have tried it but the outcome was poor. For my recordings and processing, I need to stack more than 130 frames to get sharp granulations. I think the secret to stacking fewer frames is in the way the post processing is done. Must learn it from Christian.
