Spring ???

Post by MapleRidge »

Hi all...

I'm not sure how the spring is progressing for each of you (or transition to fall in the southern hemisphere), but mother nature hit the reset button this weekend and put a foot of snow and a thick coating of freezing rain on everything. I was fortunate not to loose hydro but the ice downed a lot of trees and there were wide spread outages that are still being repaired.

Needless to day, no observing opportunities lately :(

The earlier winter snow accumulation all meted back in mid February...The pic below is a panorama taken this morning:

I'm looking forward to a slightly warmer/sunny forecast at NEAF this weekend!!!

Hope the weather is co-operating with everyone.

Brian

Hey Brian! Spring is very delayed here. Not the snow (at the moment!) like you had - however the weather forecast allegedly promises a mini heatwave today and for a few days - we will see. Hope so as I may be able to squeeze in some quick solar after work tomorrow. What the last six months or so even more for me has been marked by is so much cloud which definitely doesn't help observing!

Hi Brian!

You have a wonderful observing site. I hope spring will come to you soon. Here at 60 degN in Norway there is still some snow on the ground but the clear patches are getting bigger every day. I took my first solar images of the year a couple of days ago, but the sun is low and the result was not very good.

Thanks Oivind, I appreciate your feedback :bow

We had the last of the earlier true winter snow melt back in mid February, and everyone though spring was just around the corner...but the warm weather was constantly put off. We hadnt had any grass green up around home before this blast of winter...my panorama should have had a green lawn by now, with the trees still a month away from putting leaves on.

Looks like another day of snow tomorrow and then sun and temperatures pushing 10C on the weekend.

Brian
