NEAF

Post by MapleRidge »

Hi everyone...

There had been some discussion a few weeks back about members who plan to attend NEAF this weekend would try to meet up. I think Franco, Eric, and Rainer were planning to attend, but I wanted to check what location and time was going to work best (Saturday)?

Hi Brian and all: I was thinking of meeting at the Televue stand at 10:00AM on Saturday, if it works for others. I am obviously flexible for any other location or time in the morning. I would like to save the afternoon for the lectures.

Hi!

I was scheduled to go but had to cancel due to illness in my family. My club member, Tove Gudim will be there, may be you can contact her. She is heavily into solar observation and photography.
I hope you will have a good show and I miss being there.

All the best from Oivind Tangen, Norway

Rainer...

I’m looking forward to seeing everyone on Saturday.

Sorry to hear you can’t make it Oivind, we have met there other years, but only briefly. Be sure to pass on the plan to Tove to meet at the Teleview site around 10am.

Re: NEAF update

Hello all: NEAF was fun and I had the chance to meet Brian and Rainer for the first time and spend some time together. We met at the Televue stand. Stephen Ramsden meanwhile was outside working the latest Solarmax III 70mm DS. It had a good image and contrast. There was a very large, 36" Dobsonian on display that was the largest scope at the show. The buyer was the gentleman in the photo with the black shirt and his back to the camera, from Rochester, NY. Outside there was a very long 7" refractor f/15, you can see it in the photo. And then there is our photo with, from the left, Brian, Franco, Rainer and Eric.

Hi:
It sure was nice to meet Franco, Brian and Tove at NEAF, had a chance to chat with Andy Lunt, Jen Winter and to some other solar imagers like Randy Shivak, Greg Piepol, Stephen Ramsden, Fred Bruenjes and more.
Also had a nice time at NEAIC too.
Regards to all,
Eric.

Hi Franco...

Thanks for posting the pics form NEAF.

It was great to meet you and Rainer and have a bit more time to chat with Eric...usually been a quick hello in passing. Lots of gadgets for all branches of the hobby. Brian Stephens form Lunt had a DS LS100 solar scope out and it gave great views of the sun...fortunate to have AR2706 in view!!!

It is always a great day meeting up with vendors and other folks that I only get to visit online most of the time.

One of my main missions this year was to look over options for a heavier duty mount, and I must say I do like the new iOptron CEM120 mount...time will tell if I upgrade (time = money  )

Hi Pedro...

Thanks for commenting on the selection of pics...we have to thank Franco for them I believe.

It would be great if we could get a larger group of us together sometime...such good interaction here in the forum, unfortunate that distance makes it a hard thing to meet in person.

Hi Brian,

Who is who on the photo of four gentlemens? I recognized only Eric Roel (right).

The names were listed in the notes posted before the pics from NEAF, but it was easy to miss ...from the left, Brian, Franco, Rainer and Eric.
