The seeing was not very cooperative this morning. Finally, I managed to get a decent view of AR2706 with an ongoing small flare.
Some isolated very small bright points are visible here and there :

Just a perfect image for such an aperture!
Christian, tell us how much better this ASI290 camera for CaK imaging vs your older Basler 1920-155 with the IMX174chip ?
Your latest CaK images are so free from a noise and in particular from the read out noice! Is this camera a cooled one or not?
Hope we will see more such your CaK pictures.

Valery, regarding the ASI290 here are some comments :
- I first compared the IMX174 and the IMX290 for imaging Venus in UV. I had the feeling that the IMX290 had a better quantum efficiency in UV. It was difficult to be sure of that since the gain (e-/ADU) and the full well in e- are very different.
- So I made some tests in Ca K on the Sun. And again, I had the feeling that the quantum efficiency of the IMX290 was a bit higher in UV.
BTW, Christian Buil measured a 67% QE at 400 nm :
According to the following source, the QE of the IMX174 at 400 nm seems to be arround 50% :

So, this is consistent with a slightly higher QE of the IMX290 at 400 nm compared to the IMX174.
- Furthermore, the resulting image quality is quite good with 60 stacked images. So, I think I'll stick to the ASI290 for HR Ca K imaging.
Skyrunner, 30 fps is far from enough. I run at 170 frames/s. This makes a huge difference.
Regarding optics, I think a long focus 150 to 200 mm Newtonian could do the job (with an internal ERF in front of the secondary mirror).
I am finally thinking that a 200 mm telescope can make sense for HR Ca K imaging...
