A fleeting prominence

Post by Bruce Girrell »

It turned out to be better for me to work from home today. The sky was clear, so I had to sneak a quick peek at noon.
Much to my surprise, there was a very nice prom putting on a show. By the time I could get the camera (only about 10 minutes) it had dimmed noticeably. When I took a break from work about 1 1/2 hours later, it was pretty much gone

Thanks everyone.
Apparently this prominence was the result of a new active region just coming around the corner. There are some nice satellite images of it today

I looked at it again and there is a Firefly on the Limb. Look at the tiny prominence with 2 eyes and a snout :-) on the right side.

Rainer -

I noticed it as I was processing the image. I thought it looked like one of the characters from the early video game Space Invaders

Very nice prom.
I wish you could make several shots and combine them in an animation.
