Todays discs - 13 May 2018

Post by mattwastell »

Happy Sunday to all.
We had blue skies horizon to horizon today & although the Sun has been quiet I had a quick look.
When the conditions behaved the seeing was quite good with small ARs, Prominences & a reasonable Filament in the South to view. I took a few pics as presented below. It was great to be out & about under the Sun again.
PS. I am heading to Tasmania for the Partial Solar Eclipse on 13 July 2018 - from memory only 3% of the Sun will be eclipsed by the Moon & it will probably be one of the least viewed Eclipses of the recent ones. I had a look at the weather conditions & I read the following - over the past 20 years (on the day) there has been 50-100% cloud coverage - good news is I am also travelling to catch up with family.
Have a great week!

Stunning full discs as usual Matt, I always love your processing and nice to see that polar crown filament still there :bow I am just waiting for the hi res WL images that your son is also asking for :)

Have fun in Tasmania, you never know if it has never been sunny on that date before then it is about time it was by chance :)
