Hydrogen Sun 14th May 2018

Post by Carbon60 »

Today we had a beautiful blue sky day....all day! Unfortunately I was at work, but thankfully I managed to capture some rays when I got home after 5:00 pm. By that time the seeing conditions were not at their best, of course, but given there was no choice in the matter I did what I could to capture something of AR2709.

150mm/Lunt35 mod with 2.5x Powermate.
Basler acA1920-155um with IMX 174 sensor.
AS3! stacking and Imppg deconvolution.
PixInsight colour addition.

Mono and colour versions.......

Much tweaking and reworking to get half decent images. :)

Thanks for looking.

Stu.

Very good results, Stu! Hope this warm season will bring us more good seeing.

That's an excellent result Stu! I squeezed a bit of solar in after work too yesterday.

I'm glad you got some shots Stu, I like these close ups a lot :bow
Sadly I always have to cook the tea when I get home so no chance to observe :(

Thanks for your kind comments, everyone.

Alexandra, there should be a rule that on sunny evenings hubby should cook ;)

wow... impressive images, Stu, the red one is really wonderful.

Have you described anywhere your modified scope ? I am tempted to implant my Lunt50 on my 150 mm refractor too...

Hi,

This is the mod, although I now use a double stacked Lunt35 and the bi-concave collimating lens has been replaced with a Plano-concave lens. I use a Coronado BF15 blocking filter.
