Sun today May 25th

Post by ffellah »

Hello all: I took a mental health day off from work, and it was a gorgeous sunny day. Seeing was good between 9:00AM and 10:00AM, then it started deteriorating. I was out with the HaT and the Daystar Combo Chromosphere: this is the only image so far I processed, but hope to post more during this long Memorial Day weekend.

I also posted an image of an osprey: we have a nest in town and you can see them fishing in the Saugatuck river.

Clear skies to all during this weekend.

Franco

Good result and a nice bird Franco. You spent the day off wel.

As usual had to look the name up in a translater ... Animals, plants are the most difficult things in foreign languages.

Kind regards,

Paul

Thank you, Raf and Paul. @Raf: I use the 2.7x telecentric amplifier that comes with the HaT scope. It brings the focal length to about 5600mm. I am posting a couple of more sun images and a few birds in our backyard, a family image of our resident woodchucks, a drone view of our home and a drone view of the area where I live. You can see the Long Island Sound in the distance.

Beautiful images, both solar and avian

When I was an owner in a company, I encouraged my employees to "call in well" at times. If a day was simply too nice to come to work, they should stay home and enjoy it. I hope you enjoyed your day off

I'm very glad I found this post, what a smile it gave me :) not only are the solar images outstanding but I must say I enjoyed the wildlife more. Ospreys are my most favourite bird in all the universe. Here in the UK they are so rare each nest is guarded 24hrs a day and so have webcams and special bird hides. I follow all the nests regularly by web viewing, although the very original nest has not been doing very well for the past few years, very bad luck in the breeding attempts.
Can I live where you live

Thank you, Mark and Alexandra, for your nice comments. Mark: with the HaT, it all comes down to the seeing, as you well know. When the seeing is good and the jetstream is favorable, the scope produces excellent results. I am satisfied with it, but I still have to learn how to use it to its max. Alessandra: we are lucky to live in a very natural environment where small animals and birds are our friends. I hope you and your husband will someday visit Connecticut ! Glad you enjoyed the osprey images.
