May 27th Ha Session

Post by MapleRidge »

Good day everyone...

Another crazy long week here at work, but finally managed to finish processing my session form last Sunday (May 27th). I was glad to have a day home with clear skies from sunrise to sunset, and above average seeing kept me glued to the solar scopes most of the morning. It was also great too have a significant increase of disk activity as well.

The first images are full disk shot through the LS80T/B1200Ha, double stacked with a LS75FHa front mount etalon. The limb is inverted to enhance the small proms that were visible:

There were two labeled AR's on the disk, with AR2712 nicely set on the NE quadrant and AR2711 on the western limb. There were several other smaller regions that were not assigned NOAA numbers. This set of images were taken with the CR-150/DSII/B1800Ha modded scope with a 3x tele-extender ahead of the ZWO174 camera. First, AR2712:

Moving west across the disk we come to the three un-labeled AR's

AR2711 was on the western limb, about to disappear from view:

With the better seeing holding on as the morning progressed I decided to try the 5x Teleview Powermate ahead of the camera, putting the scope at f40 and an effective focal length of 6m. I was not expecting the system to work, but was very happy with the results. The FOV was down to 5'x3' at this scale, so it took several frames to make a mosaic of AR2712:

I caught two of the smaller AR's with this setup as well:

AR2711 at the larger image scale:

The session was finished off with the two proms visible on the eastern limb. They did not look like much visually, but the longer focal length fulle dup some nice structure:

This post covers my last session...most of the week was sunny, but unable to get time to image.

Questions and comments are always welcome,
Brian

A very productive run of images there Brian. I love the contrast you are getting with the Ha shots.

Thanks Mark...

I pretty much had to tweak each image for brightness/contrast but they came out pretty well after I was done. I think the 3x are some of the beat I've pulled off of the modded scope in the past year or so...good seeing is not usually on my side :o

You certainly got a good session there Brian, some lovely close ups with great detail but I think my favourite are the proms :bow :hamster:
