A few from Sunday 24th June 2018

Post by Montana »

Had a bit of a problem with bad haze all weekend and terrible plane trails. Yesterday morning was the best of a bad do so I had a go at imaging. If we didn't have planes I am sure it would have been a blue sky day but sadly we seem to have every plane in the world pass over, leave a trail which would then never go. That aside, I tried the C11 with the WL filter on 3x Barlow/Grasshopper 3 and sat and waited for an hour. I got a couple of videos which were favorable during that time, it was a bit of a struggle. My last video was really nice to watch and is super compared to the rest and my eyes can see loads of detail, however it won't stack in Autostakkert, it is just a blurred mess. I have no idea how that program works as I can pick the best frames and they look fine. Oh well

and then a couple from the PSTs, the seeing didn't look good on here so I guess you can't judge seeing through different scopes

All in all a very enjoyable hour and a half.

Alexandra:
Nice session in spite of haze and contrails.
Best wishes with your big scope.

Good images, despite the conditions, Alexandra. It can be so frustrating when you know that the sky would otherwise be clear, if not for the contrails.

Hi Alexandra - sorry to hear about the conditions - sounds quite frustrating. Your images have come out well despite the challenges.

Nice ones Alexandra I remember those problems once in registax is there some way you could select the best frames manually and stack them.Sorry I haven,t posted much of late still busy restructuring the family bee business. I have been taking a few photos and hopefully will get some holidays in this month.

Thanks guys :)
Derek, I hope the bee business is OK? I miss your photos. We are having very unusual weather here in the north west of England, unlike the rest of the UK we had no rain storms or anything apart from one 10 minute shower since April. I got to work here in Manchester this morning and the smell of smoke is terrible and there is a huge moorland fire on the outskirts. This is unheard of, it reminds me of being back in America last year.

Fine images, Alexandra! CaK is my favorite.

Thanks for sharing.

Fantastic results you are getting Alexandra, hit & miss with the seeing as usual but what you are producing gets my vote.
I suppose the file your having trouble with is too big to send to me ?
I use AS!3 for all my images & haven't had much trouble stacking.
