17 July: Some H alpha and Ca K shots
Hello Everyone;
Here are some shots of the AR as it nears the limb.
H alpha shots taken with Istar 100mmf12 scope (3.9X telecentric, Daystar QPE 0.6A and reducers) and CaK shots taken with Stellarvue 115mmf7 and custom optics.
Cheers, Peter.

Very nice views in both frequencies, Peter, high contrast and resolution.

Peter:
Superb CaK shots, what custom filters?
Good day,
Eric.

Re: 17 July: Some H alpha and Ca K shots
Thanks, everyone, for the comments!
Eric: Here's a diagram of the optical layout. It started out as a telecentric design but filters are actually situated in a fairly well collimated beam. The positions of the Lunt B1800 and the Omega CaK are reversed in the actual device (don't think that matters optically ... an assembly convenience). Lenses are Edmund Optics achromatic doublets. Let me know if you want more information about spacings etc.
Cheers, Peter.

Hi Peter,
Superb images. I found your post here in Solar Chat about your telecentric and that made me understand my set up for my new Quantum much better.
This posting here viewtopic.php?f=9&t=24706
and thanks a lot

Re: 17 July: Some H alpha and Ca K shots
Thanks Matt and Rainer.
Rainer: I’m glad you found the post helpful. Referring to your earlier post viewtopic.php?f=10&t=24786&p=222771#p222771, I can’t really answer questions about optimal spacings with commercial focal extenders like the Televue because their designs are proprietary and so I don’t have the optical prescriptions to model them with my ray tracing software.
Cheers, Peter.
