New AR12717 August 01 2018 C8 telescope with 214mm DERF

Post by Valery »

Hi all,

An active area AR12717 on the sun, August 1, 2018. This is a dipole - an emergency flux area.

Telescope C8 203mm F/10 SCT equipped with the ARIES 214mm two bands dielectric energy rejection filter (DERF), PST etalon camera Basler 1920-155.

Pictures are in the core of the H-a line and in the red and blue wings of the H-a line. Note that in the red wing of Ha a photospheric granulation is perfectly visible, while in the blue wing it is not visible.

Seeing was average.

Thanks for looking.

Valery

These are excellent images, i like on the last one how you can see the granulation starting to poke through.

Thanks, Alexandra and Mark

I enjoy the difference in loop prominence appearance between blue and red wing as well as different appearance of the photospheric (RW) and lowest chromospheric (BW) "surfaces".

Very impressive Valery...especially the granulation lurking in the background of the red wing image :bow

Thanks, Brian

When I imaging in H-a I really hate all these lurking photospheric cells network. :)

Excellent images, Valery. Interesting to see in detail the Ha wings.

Beautiful images, Valery.
The off-band views are very interesting. The enhanced (loop?) absorption in the blue wing seems to be consistent with the picture of prominence gas condensing out of the corona and streaming down to the surface. Do you have an idea of the wavelength offsets in your detuned images?
Cheers, Peter.

Thanks, Christian, Stu and Peter!

Peter, I don't know how much were the detuning in these cases, but my guess is +0,5 to +0,7A red and -0,6 to -0,7A blue.
