Thursday Sunshine - 2nd August

Post by marktownley »

A day of generally clouds with occasional fleeting blue moments today. A quick full disk with the DS50. I like the emerging flux region to the right of the active region.

Seeing was awful - generally 4-5", but there were fleeting moments when it was better so went with the ED80 and Sodium Quark, using the SSM to hunt the best frames. It gives consistently better quality raw data to work with. Here the cadence is about a frame a minute, so 8 mins real time. It doesn't really show much at this scale but the spot (big pore?) has a light bridge, there appear to be several other pores associated with this active region.

Totally clear skies now, and forecast for the rest of the night, but also forecast cloudy from dawn. Hopefully there will be sun to be had on friday.

Mark

Good Capture Mark.

Did some tries yesterday with different scopes but seeing was bad. (Lots of sunshine but no seeing)

Thanks everyone! The pore is part of the active region on the left Alexandra.
