Has anyone put together a quick and easy tutorial for making composites of transits?
If so, where would one find them?
Thanks in advance.
Jim

Re: Solar transit composite photo tutorial?
Hi Jim,
have been asked that question myself a few times. I was able to shoot one Moon transit last year, but never got the composite image right.
Now I found this page http://www.thelondonastronomer.com/it-i ... ce-station
Rgrds,

Re: Solar transit composite photo tutorial?
Exactly what I was looking for .. simple and to the point.
I will need to tweak but here is a first attempt.
Thank you very much for taking the time to share this.

That's a great tutorial, exactly the same way as I have done it in the past. Great composite Jim

Re: Solar transit composite photo tutorial?
Thank you very much Alexandra.
I was pleased with my image of the sun but the ISS looks a bit odd. I think it may have been atmospheric distortion due to high winds at the surface and aloft.
I am still quite pleased with the results.

Thank you Mark.
Yes I think this site should at least be linked.
It has quite a bit of good information.

Re: Solar transit composite photo tutorial?
Just one remark I would like to add. If you capture to SER files instead of AVI you can also extract the images with SerPLayer. Very easy, play the video in SER player until you see the "action". Pause, go back to the first frame with the ISS, write down the frame nummer. Go forward and mark the last frame you want to extract. Then from "file"-> save frames as images enter the frame range and save (use TIF for further processing). You will get 1 file per frame

Paul

Re: Solar transit composite photo tutorial?
Thank you Paul for the suggestion.
The Celestron Capture software iCap only saves as AVI and I have had the best captures with this software. Perhaps I need to learn the sniggy details of FireCapture or AstroCap.
I did download the SerPlayer software for future endeavors.
