First try at Sodium and one H-alpha

Post by ffellah »

Hello all: after a week away Sunday morning I had a quick session trying a Sodium line filter for the first time. Please pardon my inexperience... after that I had time for a a couple of high res H-alpha images, one shown here.

Thank you, Mark, for pointing me to the Flat field feature on FC.

Clear skies to all

Franco

Very nice indeed, the Sodium gives a very fluffy 3D nature to the granulation. I like the hi res Halpha too :bow :hamster:

Nice shots, Franco.
I like the enhanced faculae visible in sodium.
Cheers, Peter.

They look good Franco! The sodium is definitely subtly different than the white lights.

Franco:
Very nice images, Sodium look like a very good approach to a different view from the common white/light.
Welcome back.
Eric.

Really interesting, Franco, looks quite different from usual granulation images. I suppose the filter is a Quark unit ?

Hi Raf: yes, it is, with the 4.3x Barlow built in. The Sodium images were taken with a newly acquired 152mm Explore Scientific refractor, the Ha with the 203mm HaT scope.
