Ok, ok, I know this is a slim connection, however was really feeling the imaging drought while the sun is low in the winter sky and so decided to capitalise on the lovely gibbous moon that was gracing our our evening sky. This was taken with the OTA I use for all my Ha work.

Marvelous Mark! the detail when viewed in original size is amazing.
I must admit, I was too much of a wimp to go out last night as it was so bitterly cold, I just admired the moon and Jupiter from the window.
I'm getting a UV/IR cut filter to go on the DMK for Christmas and I am hoping this might improve my useless night time imaging. Did you use one for this image?

Hi Alexandra, Thank you!
No, this was just a 2x nosepeice on the end of the DMK. Exactly same settings on avistack and registax as I use for my solar work. I'm quite pleased with how it came out, though must confess had to drag myself away from frozen planet to get out and image!

You are an excellent imager Mark, I take of my hat to you!
I'm watching Frozen Planet tonight (recorded), I think I heard on the news that this episode was banned in the USA as it mentioned global warming
