Heya,

Woke up to some decent weather, some clouds, but plenty of sucker holes to see through and a light haze. Seeing was much better today here and there than before. I was able to push the image scale higher today and imaged at 152mm aperture and 5040mm focal length with the Quark on some smaller feinter proms and grabbed good limb detail, so the seeing had to be at least decent for that to turn up anything. I imaged at 60mm F6.667 with the masked ST80 for a full disc mosaic using a new method for myself focusing on utilizing gamma to capture both the surface and prominences in a single capture, but in my case, in 10 captures as I did a large mosaic. I also peaked at the active regions and full disc in 393nm with the ST80 and 152mm F8 with the Skybender to see the faculae lines.

Equipment:

Scale 1: ST80 (masked to 60mm, F6.667) + 130mm Extensions & 2" UV/IR Cut filter as ERF + Quark Chromosphere (656nm)
Scale 2: Celestron 152mm F8 Refractor + 210mm Extensions + 2" UV/IR Cut filter as ERF + Quark Chromosphere (656nm)
Scale 3: Skybender loaded with 393nm filters (393nm) with the 152mm F8 refractor and a 3x Barlow
Scale 4: Skybender loaded with 393nm filters (393nm) with the ST80 masked to 40mm F10

Mosaic made with a different technique than my norm. 10 individual panels created to form this mosaic. I captured the surface & proms in the same exposure using maxed out gamma, but only sufficient gain to not clip the histogram to the right. I merged the panels into a mosaic (MSICE handled it fine). Then in IMPPG I loaded the mosaic and stretched a histogram only for the surface and saved that. Then did another histogram only for the proms and saved that. I layered in them photoshop CS5.1 in my normal fashion and had a perfectly matching pair of surface & proms without having to do 20 exposures. It worked out great and reduced my overall work flow to produce a higher resolution mosaic.
