OK I am really slow but I also have yet to process 8th July and 3rd June so getting the 5th August processed you are very lucky!

I did take the full disc specifically as a present for our own very dear Richard Bailey to cheer him up and I did achieve that :) sadly he has spent the last 3 weeks in hospital and is very ill indeed. Last Christmas he was struggling to give us all his monthly and daily updates of the Sun as he had a bad back. Well at Easter he was diagnosed with metastatic prostate cancer in his spine. At least he enjoyed the full disc so the mission was accomplished, you can zoom in and see all the details here: https://www.flickr.com/photos/alexandra ... 5/sizes/o/

or in colour: https://www.flickr.com/photos/alexandra ... 8/sizes/o/

after the mission was accomplished I also took some with the 2x barlow or it could have been the 1.6x (forgotten) (Solarscope DSF100 / Grasshopper 3)

I think this may have been the small active region Mark was getting excited about

At the weekend I picked up a very old sextant, I found it on a junk stall and have always wanted one. Unfortunately I don't think anything is in line. The mirror should show the horizon in front of you but all I see is the brick wall behind me, so finding the sun is useless. Does anyone know how to collimate a sextant?

So sorry to hear about Richard. Best wishes to you if you are reading this, Richard.

That's a stunning full disc image....enough to cheer up anyone. The full-res view is spectacular. Beautiful prom and filament images too, Alexandra.

I've looked at many sextants on various stalls here and there, but many are just modern knock offs. Rare to see an original. Well done. Sorry I can't help with setting one up though.

Stu.

These are excellent Alexandra, I love results you get with the DSF100. Yup, that's the first spot of cycle 25 you got. I feel so much for Richard, I keep checking in on him on FB.

Fantastic images, Alexandra.

Have you already seen this book on Sextants ? It looks helpful.

Thanks Alexandra great pics and I like that Sextant.I am so sorry to here about Richard especially since that was what my father had. Please tell him to enjoy each day to it’s fullest my thought are with him.Being brutally honest it’s painful when it’s in your bones I watched as my father endured many types of pain medication.

Thanks guys :)

Great link Raf! thanks for that :)

Derek, yes Richard seems to be in so much pain, hence the long hospital stay. He seems very poorly indeed, I will send him your best wishes.
