AR 12719 still alive

Post by krakatoa1883 »

Yesterday AR12719 seemed almost vanished but this afternoon I noted that activity in this region increased again leading to the formation of more than 7 spots just two hours ago. The pictures below have been taken this morning (Italy time), when activity was still reduced, with different filters by using of my 130 mm "solarized" newtonian and the 80mm ED refractor. Turbulence was still very high so I could not use any more than the 2.5x amplification of my Powermate. Hope this heat wave will terminate soon.

I made a tentative of imaging with this filter and the 5x Powermate in spite of the bad seeing, the result seems interesting, I noted that with the U filter the seeing is not so bad as with the K line

All great but the granulation shots this time are my favorites, Raf

Very fine images, Raf. Nice granulation shot and beautiful CaK FD.

Thanks Alexandra, Stu and Franco. I was just playing with my filters trying to understand what could be my next step in the short wavelengths region as I have less interest for imaging in H Alpha. I would like to change my refractor for another one more corrected in the near UV and I am considering various options. I should also change my CCD camera because the old Chameleon mono 2.0 is now really outdated  .

Any suggestion would be greatly appreciated.
