AR2720&2719, Big Filament, Big Proms | HA & CAK | 8-28-18

Heya,

Woke up to thunder, not a lot of promise, took the risk anyways. Went out and opened up the observatory, started quickly grabbing data in smaller scale in fairly poor seeing between clouds. Not 30 minuets later there are cloud trains and I gave up at that point, considering later that day. But, now it's raining and there's a huge storm cell over my area in Florida. So there goes all that. Today's bounty is decent though with something to look at, at least. Imaged with 150mm F8 refractor with 0.5x focal reducer and Quark & ASI174MM for the HA stuff. 158mm F8 refractor with 3x barlow and PST CaK filter & ASI174MM for the CaK stuff.

Yesterday's big prom group really decayed.

Image

This prom grouping was a fila-prom, it had several filaments near the limb that are barely visible with my single stack system, a double stack system would have shown them much better.

The big filament still lingering.

Image

AR2720 & AR2719, was hoping for some more activity near the the limb like this, but it was fairly quiet.

AR2720 & AR2719 in CaK for comparison.

The old Celestron (very old, the C150 HD with collimating cell) was stopped down to 100mm F12 to be more ideal with the PST Cak filter. :hamster:

I was going to do an animation, a but a thundering rain cell moved over and decided that wasn't happening.

Very best,

You are very lucky to have an observatory so you can set up and pack away quickly. It is something I could do with but have no room for.
This is a great set but the CaK limb shot is a real cracker :bow
