Today's SUN (20180829) | PST Stage 2 Mod first light. I could only image a faint prom

Nice start! And it seems the distance between etalon and camera is a bit bigger now. At what position did you place the front lens of the etalon? I positioned the etalon in the Skywatcher (also f/8) at minus 16 cm. Should be no problem at all with the TMB because of the huge backfocus.

Visually I got great results even with a smaller distance (only one extension tube). It seems that the correct distance from the PST etalon is about 200mm. The soft spot is huge though

Yep the lenses are -200 and + 200.
So in a f/10 scope -200 is the perfect position of the frontlens. If you place the glasspath at -160, it is at -200 from the new focus point. So there where your etalon has to be.
