September 13 in Ha

Post by MapleRidge »

Good evening all...

Well, evening in my part of the world ;)

Life and work have kept me busy the past few weeks, but I have been doing some imaging and trying to follow posts on the site as well. I had a short session on the 13th over my lunch break to grab a few images with the Lunt solar scope, with the best presented below.

The seeing was not great by the noon hour here, so I limited my efforts to the LS80T/LS75FHa/B1200Ha double stacked scope. After grabbing the full disk shots I added the 3x Explore Scientific tele-extender ahead of the camera to get more resolution of the disk details and proms. The full disk image below is a composite of separate disk and limb frames:

The image below is a longer exposure limb shot to enhance the fainter structures and the disk is blocked out:

I figured the poor seeing would make any attempts at imaging with the larger focal length scope a challenge, so bumped the effective focal length of the LS80T double stacked scope and was very happy with the results. AR2722 was located near mid disk and there was some evidence of some activity emerging on the SE limb as well. A small tuft of a filament was caught on the NW limb as well:

The final set of images are form the NW limb where a large crop of prominences were found...this is a disk/limb composite:

That covers the Thursday session...hoping for some sun over the weekend ;)

Lovely shots Brian! Autumn has well and truly arrived for me, and work is sooo busy i've not had no sun for several weeks. This weekend is looking grotty weatherwise too.

Mark and Derek...

Thanks again for your comments!!!

The weather is turning more fall like here now (temperature wise anyway), but still next to no leaf colour change. Our Thanksgiving (2 weeks off) may have some nice colours in the bush at the farm. Glad you have your son helping Derek...now that Scott is back to university we only see him a couple of times per semester.
