Sept 16th Sun and Yard Views

Post by MapleRidge »

Hi everyone...

I had another clear sunny day on Sunday and despite the limited disk details I did see a number of proms on GONG, so I opened the dome up and began imaging. Though there were no named AR's, there were several small areas that showed a little activity, some very small filaments and a nice collection of proms rewarded my views.

The first images are WL and CaK through the Stellarvue 110 and the Lund solar wedge/Baader Continuum filter and the Lunt Wedge/B1800CaK hybrid CaK filter:

Clouds interfered early in the session and the CaK was barely worth the effort but I put it up anyway!

The Ha full disk was taken through the LS80T/LS75FHa/B1200Ha double stacked solar scope and shown as a composite of separate disk and limb exposures:

Seeing continued to be poor, so I imaged through the 3x tele-extender to get some higher resolution images of the disk and limb features. There was an area that looked to be trying to brew some activity up just inside the SE limb:

The western limb also showed some smaller spots of activity on their way off the limb:

The mosaic below covers the disk across the mid northern latitudes and shows a number of small filaments:

The last three images show the main proms groups visible:

Although we are into mid September there is little sign of fall...temperatures were in the low 30's C the past week and the trees are not showing any sign of colour change yet. The only real sign of the fall is in the yard and garden as fruit begins to ripen, and fall flowers bloom and attract some bees to forage for nectar. The collage below is assembled form a number of pics snapped through the day in the yard:

I have to figure out how to make wine out of these grapes

Questions and comments are always welcome,
Brian

Loved the solar pictures but the yard views are excellent! we are currently making 24L of wine out of our yard vines this year. We had the hottest summer since 1976 and the vines loved it :)
