Magnificent Prominence, HA, Sept 21 2018

Post by MalVeauX »

Heya,

Woke up to a clear sky, but even more dreadful seeing than yesterday! I suppose all these cyclones off the coast are throwing turbulent air my way. I really can't wait for hurricane season to end and get back to my normal seeing. I can barely image at anything other than a medium scale (anything more than 2500mm falls apart fast, but even at 1680mm it is really turbulent today). Anyhow, a lovely prominence has further evolved and it's really interesting with a lot of structure and a big wispy tail. I bet it will make for a fantastic animation if anyone has decent seeing and the time!

Later today, that large proms is mostly gone, it's large frame is there, but it's way less bright and lost a lot of it's pressence. Opposite side of the disc, the other smaller prom has gotten more active and more interesting. I took a stab at it in much better seeing, with a smaller scope, the 120mm refractor at 4200mm and seeing held up to the scale.
