I am afraid sunspots are the effect of localized strong magnetic fields in the photosphere (and in the layer below).
They have nothing to do with comets.
I told ya so... Comets causing sunspots.

To be honest I cannot see how something as small as a comet could give rise to a sunspot, considering the size difference as well, maybe I'm wrong but it seems a little doubtful.
