Christmas Eve sunshine

Post by Montana »

Well, it never stopped raining since Thursday but today I woke up to glorious sunshine and crisp cold frost and some beautiful mist over the river. It is one of those special winter mornings.

I completely missed the Sun for the solstice yet again for the 4th year in a row, so I still haven't completed my analemma properly yet :( but I saw the Sun today at lunchtime. There was still a lot of cirrus cloud about and even was blessed with an iridescent cloud/sundog when I was setting up the PSTs from the bedroom window. So this is my low sun view at around middday from upstairs.

Lovely discs, look at those filaments just popping up over night! And a new AR coming around the limb.

Very best,

Lovely images, Alexandra. Glad you got some Sun.

I’m in the Midlands without a solarscope, but the beautiful blue sky here today certainly made me wish I had one with me. I’m starting to forget the routine. It has been weeks since my last solar session because of the weather.

At least here in the north we’re on the right side of the solstice. :)

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.

Hi Mark...

Great scenery along the canal, and the boat cruise/pub looks like a great way to take in Christmas.
