Full disk from 29-12-2018

Post by rsfoto »

Hi,

Between two banks of mocinh high clouds I managed to get this full disk.

As always a 9 image mosaic taken with my 60mm double stacked Coronado on a 900mm Takahashi FSQ 85ED scope. BTW my Quantum PE grade 0.4Å did not see anything. Will have to talk to Daystar and see why it is more or less blind ... :?: I expected to see details as in my simple double stacked Coronado filters ...

Seen best in new Tab or window.

regards Rainer

Wow!! that really is a nice full disc, especially when opened up to full size :bow

You will never see anything like the contrast of your Coronado double stack with the Daystar, but you should see something?

Thanks Mike, Christopher, Stu and Alexandra.

Well the Quantum Daystar I bought in April this year at NEAF 2018 is a PE grade and 0.4Å Ångstrom. I did setup the focus point for the camera using an opaque filter (milky) and then I just changed from that to the Quantum wioth camera and nothing. moved it forward and backwards with the fovuser (motorized) and nothing. There must be somthing wrong with this filter.

I will contact daystar on 2 or 3 January 2019 and ask what is going on. I did not spent US $ 12,000.00 for seeing nothing ...

Happy New Year 2019 with hopefully soon lots of details on our Day Star ...

Rainer

Hi Christopher,

You mention AR but after checking in Spaceweather.com there is no AR mentioned ... Looks like a perturbation oly which has not reached AR denomination yet ...

The full disk is a stunner Rainer. That etalon stack really is something special.

Hi Rainer,
SOHO shows it as 2729. Not sure about the discrepancy. Either way, there’s a lot of details to be seen in the disk’s central area in your capture.

Christopher

A great disk showing a lot of detail, Rainer ! Nice to see the filaments at the bottom and the white active region in the center. And, of course, the multiple prominences...

Hi Christopher,

Thanks. Good to know that I have to check a few pages. Yes strange that there is a discrepancy.
