New Year Sun
Finally the belt of clear weather that Robert and then Stuart had, dropped south enough for me to see the Sun by 12:45 today. It was still very hazy and murky but I managed a couple of discs with the PSTs. It was nice to see the little active region in both Halpha and CaK and some nice but faint proms too. We then went for a walk at Bosley locks to enjoy the low sunshine after lunch. It did get in your eyes

Re: New Year Sun
Lovely disks Alexandra! Not been as far up as Bosley locks. I'm hoping the clear skies work their way down to me tomorrow.

Excellent full disks, Alexandra ! Looking at the SDO images this afternoon it seems like a new group of sunspots just appeared...some new good targets.

Nice images, Alexandra! Thanks for sharing them with us.
BTW Do you have any progress with 11" DERF cell?
BTW2 Yesterday I removed my EQ8 from the dome and it will rests in a warm room till about first decade of March.
Till that I will not see the sun through a telescope.

Re: New Year Sun
Thanks everyone, it was very welcome to see even a hazy Sun on New Year's Day after a week of endless grey cloud it cheers the soul.
Valery, we are struggling a bit. We finally found someone with a big enough machine who said they will try in the new year. I have my fingers crossed, we tried everywhere. If this doesn't work it will have to be Germany for a very large cost

Re: New Year Sun
Nice images, Alexandra.
I could see on SAT24 that things were clearing up for you. Glad it turned out okay, although not ideal with the haze and murk.
