Greetings and a quick introduction,

I was one of those kids enthralled by science and outer space. The Gemini and Apollo missions fueled this fascination and probably influenced my career choices of working with various optical instruments and teaching electro-optics and mechanics. Astronomy and photography were some of my main interests but not until experiencing the total solar eclipse of 2017 did I begin to really focus on the Sun.

Since that time, I have sought out information pertaining to solar imaging in H alpha which eventually lead me to this site. For the better part of a year I have read the posts here and studied the images. Trying to emulate the images seen here through processing and composition has provided a path for me to follow toward achieving the images I strive to produce. I dare say, to the regulars here, you will undoubtedly see your hand influencing some of my images. No need to name names.

My equipment is modest and has been challenging at times. An O.T.I. Quantum Six Maksutov or a small Questar telescope is used for imaging the Sun and other astronomical objects. Quark Combo and Solar Spectrum etalons are used with these scopes.

I felt it was time to share my interpretations of the Sun with people who appreciate the opportunity to image our nearby star. Below is a link to my personal site. It was setup many years ago when computer monitors were smaller and has not been updated so now it works best on tablets rather than large screens. I purposely don't publicize the site but you are welcome to visit. You might see something you like.

I'm not quite sure how to attach some of this years images, but I'll try. These were taken with the Quantum Six, full aperture D-ERF, 2x telecentric, Solar Spectrum SO1.5, Quark Combo, and PGR GX camera on January 1 and 2.

Thank you for the warm welcome. This is a great forum with great members.

I plan to contribute many more current images, weather permitting of course, for the latitude challenged and some of my equipment setup for your opinions and comments. I reside in Florida, you know the sunshine state, where the winter weather is mild and seeing favorable. In the meantime I will continue to study the excellent images posted here and learn.

Phil:
Super shots, I believe that we have met at the Winter Star Party years ago, when Don Parker and some old timers gave some really nice Astronomical talks, and we all had a great time observing and learning.
Welcome to this great forum.
Eric.

Eric,
Thanks for the comment. Regrettably I missed the opportunity to meet Don Parker. Such an interesting guy.
I must say that your professional quality images are outstanding. As I image only with Maksutov scopes, I an very interested in what you can accomplish with your 10" Mak for solar. They are superb moon and planetary scopes as well.
