AR2733 Jan 25 2019 + Sky Proms

Post by Astrophil »

I saw the Sun today through haze and uncooperative clouds. AR2733 was imaged but solar prominences were a bust. As I was putting the equipment away the clouds looked like proms to me. Nice touch.

Thanks Marty, I forgot to process the sky proms. Here is a processed version.
Extra time on my hands today.

Terrific details in the active region shot. Your sky prom is a good analogy of the effect of air currents and magnetism.

Nice close view of the active region, Phil. Hoping to see it myself if the Sun comes out tomorrow.

Thank you all for the comments. Very encouraging. The sky conditions made proper exposure of the AR challenging hence the blown out highlights. i'll pretend it's a flare.

Christopher, yes the clouds resembled proms to me, maybe wishful thinking on my part. Slightly different mechanism involved though. The colorized version of clouds seen from my back yard is looking a little ominous to me now.

Stu, I also hope you see some sun and can capture it as the weather forecasts don't look too good for Florida. Don't laugh but it might even freeze. Thats a feels-like temperature of at least 20 below for you northern guys. I won't be imaging until it warms up.

Fantastic image of the AR but I do like the prom clouds, that is really good, amazing how patterns are repeated in nature :)
