March 8th - Ha Only

Post by MapleRidge »

Good day everyone...

The cold grip of winter is slow to transition to spring here, though it looks like yesterday may have been the last day to linger well below the long term temperatures. We had another clear day, and I had time over my lunch to grab a few images in Ha.

The full disk image is composite of separate disk and limb images with the limb inverted. The proms were still fairly faint to the eye but came up nicely in the stacked images. Imaged through the LS80T/DSII/B1200Ha solar scope with the PGR camera:

AR2734 and the region to its SE were the next targets using the modded CR-150/DSII/B1800Ha scope with the ASI174MM camera:

That's if from Friday and we have another sunny day today...if the temperatures can climb above freezing in the daytime it will be time to start making maple syrup again ;) I'm hoping that the moderating temperatures as we move into spring will allow more use of the large aperture scope. I set the 10" Meade OTA back on the mount in the solar observatory last night and hope that I can get something useful while AR2734 is still visible.

Questions and comments are always welcome,
Brian

Brian, great set. I like the processing and the faint proms turned out nice and sharp.

A lovely set there Brian, we had clearish skies this weekend but in an unstable polar maritime airflow the seeing was all over the place and solar wasn't really feasible.

Mark and Alexandra...

I appreciate your comments and feedback !!!

Alexandra, yes syrup season has me working with another level of stress ;) If all goes as planned I should get the trees tapped tomorrow morning and see if the weather follows the pattern forecast...there's optimism at its best  I did some repairs on Sunday and another half day of setup around the evaporator to do as well, but no rush until I have sap to boil.
