Sunday Sunshine 24th March
My brother stayed this weekend, we both went to a whiskey festival on Saturday, so, when Sunday morning dawned with blue skies it was fair to say I wasn't as fresh as I normally are on a sunny Sunday. Either way I setup my kit to see what was happening on el-sol, by brother was keen to see what was going on too. The departing active regions were on view, but apart from that the disk was quiet, and the seeing not good, close up CaK was not an option today!
Starting off with the CaK full disk with the 60mm at f15, I know this setup is capable of more but the atmosphere was swimming.

XI used the SM90 double stacked with the Quark to take a look at the departing activity on the limb. Camera was the GH3 ICX814.

I was running off multiple exposures with the idea of making an animation of the limb activity, but the seeing was all over the place so my original plan was really viable, however a transit meant I did get to do an animation, just not the one I was expecting.

Fast forward to the afternoon, and after a spot of lunch my brother had left so I decided to try my nice new shiny adapter cell to double stack the SM90 with my nice and flat 50mm etalon. As with any setup like this it will take some tweaking, but pleased with the potential it has. First off the single stack at 90mm aperture.

A very interesting and varied session, Mark. Funny the unexpected animation... all images came out really well.
It is always interesting to experiment new combinations of hardware and filters.

Excellent results, Mark. You had a productive session with time for experimentation too.

Blink and you'll miss it, I also got this turbo prop flying from Manchester to Jersey. There were only 3 frames it was in shot, really quite low so shifting quick across the sun. I'm impressed you can see the propellers on it...

Re: Sunday Sunshine 24th March
WOW!! amazing shots Mark sounds like you had sunshine all day, I bet you are glad you don't live in Cheshire I really like the transits, the last one is so clear for a single frame, either your frame rate was very fast or exceptional seeing at that fraction of a second, you should do the lottery

Re: Sunday Sunshine 24th March
Thanks Alexandra. The seeing was definitely not good. AS3 giving a quality reading of 167 for the frame in question, if i'm getting values >300 then my interest is piqued. Sun was on and off all day, but I had things to do so couldn't sit around too long in the garden.
