Well, it's been a terrible winter for imaging around here, and I've only had a few chances to image anything, solar or DSO. I've been envious of all the fantastic images being put up here! The only bright spot was meeting all the folks at NEAIC/NEAF last week, including Stephen Ramsden as well as all the folks from Lunt and Daystar!
Finally had a clear morning today, albeit with gusty winds, so I dragged the LX200 out after my night shift to grab some imagery of AR2738. I swapped out the TZ3 with a 4x PowerMate, was a little apprehensive given the smaller pixel scale but there were some brief moments where the seeing stabilized, seems to have come out OK. Also had a go at stacking with AS!2 based on some recommendations that I received (instead of AS!3) and processing with PixInsight, so I'm still struggling to find a workflow that produces a look that I really like. 3% stack of 1500 images, the best sequence was the first of the morning.
Anyway here's my little contribution, thanks for looking! C&C welcome as always.
Meade 10" LX200 ACF, Aries full aperture ERF, 4x PowerMate, Quantum 0.3A, GSO 0.5x, QHY5III 174. This is a 50% reduction
Anyone have any thoughts on Daystar's new Mg I Quark?
Clear skies!
Patrick

Superb image Patrick
Can you tell me what you are using as an ERF on the 10" SCT?
Thanks,
Brian

Hi Brian,
It's an Aries full-aperture D-ERF.

Great result Patrick! I fancy a Mg quark too, it's going to give a view similar to the other metal lines - more contrast than Na, less contrast than CaH/CaK.
