9 inch Rumak: granulation and AR2738

Post by bart1805 »

Today I tried out the 9 inch Rumak. Optics are made by Intes: MK-91. So it is a 9 inch f/13,5 Rumak. Rebuild (not by me) in a 33cm diameter double Carbon tube. The inside of the Tube is isolated. Heavy machine: about 14kg.
But for the Cem 60 it is no real problem:

Nice backfcocus!

Wanted to image the granulation. Seeing was bad, so besides the Naader AstroSolar ND3.8 I had to use an Astromik Red filter. Difficult to focus without any sunspots and these conditions, but here is the result:

And a goodbye to AR2738, image taken last friday with the 150mm Skywactcher achromat:

Thanks for watching! Bart.

Indeed Mark! Forgot to mention it: prime focus so about 3100mm. ASI290MM.
Besides the Red filter I also used a 2 inch Beloptik UV/IR cut on kg3.

Hi Franco, thanks!
Baader D-erf - Baader 35nm H-alpha - Baader 1,25x glasspath - PST etalon - Lunt B1200 - ASI290MM.
So a normal PST etalon.
At the moment Gerd Neuman (Astronomik) is rebuilding a filter drawer so I can doublestack my two PST etalons. In the filter drawer there goes a circular polarizer.

Excellent first light !
A 10"ERF might be of use for this scope.

Thanks Christian. Yes, it would definitely be of use! But to fund it I would have to sell the Rumak. (-;

Thanks all!
Alexandra, since using the SSM my idea of good and bad seeing is shifting a bit. When I look at the SSM, it jumps up and down. So when the average seeing is bad, there are still a few moments when the seeing is actually pretty good. This was captured during such a moment.

Thanks Christopher and Pedro. Looking forward to using the scope on the moon, planets and the sun. Bought it in june last year, tried it out for a couple of weeks. And then decided to change the focuser because I was not pleased with it. Put the scope upside down so I could work in a more comfortable position. Did not realise the primary was held by just the adapter plate of the focuser. So when removing the focuser the complete primary (plus baffle) dropped down. Thank god it did not hit the corrector.....
In the fall I brought it to a friend I met on a Dutch forum. He also fine-tuned my Intes M703 some time ago. It took him a while, but the scope is now even better than before. He changed amongst other things the secondary holder. And collimated it perfectly. Really happy to have it back again!
