Easter Monday Sun in three lights
Another beautiful day here in (most) of the UK and I had the pleasure of the company of Alexandra and her husband Darren to share some solar time with, primarily to run a side-by-side of our respective Lunt CaK modules (more to come from Alexandra herself). Before and during their stay I ran some WL, CaK and Ha captures mainly with my Tecnosky 125 (WL and CaK) and 150mm modified DS Lunt 35. I did try the RCT but with no real success, despite the conditions being exceptional and almost perfect.
First up a granulation image taken using a Lacerta Brewster wedge and 2.5x Powermate on a Basler acA1920-155um (IMX174). Maybe I could have got a closer view?

Using the same scope, Powermate and camera I switched over to the Lunt B600 with Baader K-Line and Omega filter a quick view of a small active region in CaK.

And then a random region in Ha on the 150.

It's a pity the lovely large active region from last week has gone around the bend.
Thanks for looking.
Stu.

Re: Easter Monday Sun in three lights
Nice Stu! In the presentation here there is some kind of grid visible in the first two pictures, but everything looks fine on Flickr.
How nice of you to paint the first letter of your guest on the CaK surface of the sun. It is there at 7 o'clock looking at the small AR. Was it some kind of easter egg? (-;

Nice set Stu. Poor conditions all day here and with little or no activity I did not do much more than a bit of visual.

Good looking images, Stu. I do enjoy your images. Thanks for posting.

Re: Easter Monday Sun in three lights
These are great Stuart and yes you should have gone for a much higher res granulation shot
It was a pleasure to solar view with you again and for the hundredth time you helped me out again
The little A in the CaK shot is very unusual, it took me ages to spot it. It reminds me of the little loops Mark spots in the sodium. I wonder if this is real or an artifact. I guess you would need to study the video and see if you can see it visually.
The Halpha is cracking, a perfect image of the quiet Sun, we can just enjoy the beautiful spicule bushes and appreciate them more.

Re: Easter Monday Sun in three lights
Many thanks Alexandra. Always a pleasure seeing you and Darren. I'm just glad the weather held for the comparison and that we were able to draw a conclusion about your CaK module from the session. BTW, the 'A' was etched especially for your visit, as Bart suggestsMontana wrote: ↑Tue Apr 23, 2019 7:06 am These are great Stuart and yes you should have gone for a much higher res granulation shot

Re: Easter Monday Sun in three lights
Many thanks everyone. Back to clouds and rain tomorrow. Still, we've had a cracking holiday weekend and can't complain, although more activity would be welcome.

Re: Easter Monday Sun in three lights
I reworked the CaK image with less deconvolution and more UM sharpening.

20190422_CaK_UM_Colour by Stuart Green, on Flickr
Far fewer processing artefacts and more detail.
