AR2740 in CaK, 05052019
This morning it was hit and run between the clouds. But I desperately wanted to try if doubling the distance between the lenses of the 100mm f/9 ED worked or not. Seeing was not bad, no time to use the SSM. Just a few moves of 30 seconds each.
Yesterday I also received the first two tilt adapters, these were discussed here:

Here a picture of one of them and the image train for CaK:

No time to really try them, but yes the image changes when you change the tilt. And it seems possible to get rid of the reflections. For this image they were in the neutral position.
Used the Lunt nosepiece plus just the two PST#1 filters. No K-line, low gain, no gamma. ASI290MM, IMPPG and shadows and highlights in PS.

Is it better than with the original distance of the lenses? I think so, but can't really compare. It seemed a bit easier to focus. For now I am satisfied, one down on the everlasting list of things to do....!
Thanks for watching, Bart.

Nice shot Bart! the spicules are coming out well. Where did you get the tilt adapters from in the end?

Very sharp image, Bart, spicules, prominence and penumbra filaments came out well. It seems really promising. Just to complete the picture try to see what happens to the other colors, green and red, if they now show spherical aberration and how much.

These two are made by Beloptik. The two other adapters by Gerd Neuman (Astronomik Filters).marktownley wrote: ↑Sun May 05, 2019 11:48 am Nice shot Bart! the spicules are coming out well. Where did you get the tilt adapters from in the end?

Yes, it looks promising! Good idea to test the other colours for SA, will put the test on the list.krakatoa1883 wrote: ↑Sun May 05, 2019 1:16 pm Very sharp image, Bart, spicules, prominence and penumbra filaments came out well. Thanks!
Looking forward to try what the results are of tilting the filters.
