May 7: H alpha and CaK
Hi Everyone.
Managed some imaging yesterday morning. There was abundant haze (distinct halo around the Sun) but this seemed to have stabilized the air a little. Hydrogen photos were taken with: Aries ERF, Celestron C8 Edge, Moonlite CHL focuser, ~f/46 Telecentric, Daystar QPE 0.6A, ~f/27 FR and ~ f/35 FR, PGR USB3 Grasshopper IMX174. Calcium photos were taken with: Stellarvue 115mm f7. Chroma 380/ IDAS UV-IR cut, Omega CaK 0.2nm, Lunt CaK B1800 Etalon. (Sys.~f37) PGR Grasshopper IMX174. The panoramic H alpha shot at f/27 is a two pane mosaic.
Cheers.
Peter

Very nice pictures, very good resolution! Just what I would have LIKED to get yesterday, with clear blue skies over here, if the seeing hadn't been that [censored]...
One question, if I may: You are using the 115mm refractor for CaK, not the C8 - is this for seeing reasons? I am asking because my experience in the last weeks is that even in moments of good seeing, i.e. SSM values of 0.7 and below, my 8inch scope did not really produce better, sharper CaK images than my 90mm refractor.
Regards,
Frank

Excellent images, Peter!
I believe the seeing was good. With F/46 even relatively wide etalon 0,6A delivers excellent contrast and a wealth of details.
CaK image is very contrasty - looks like excellent filters combination.
Thanks for sharing.

An excellent set of images, Peter. A lovely pair of sunspots, beautifully imaged.
